Our French Medium is one of our more popular blends. It is a very dark and oily bean, but not as bitter as our Italian High Roast
Best served through espresso although does well through cafetiere/filter for those who enjoy dark oily coffees.
n.b Some ‘Bean to Cup’ machines may be designed in a way that oiler beans are not recommended for use, please check machine manuals before using.

I love this coffee – it is not as powerful as some, but full of flavour.

Our long-held favourite but this particular tranche / batch / lot seems to have a somewhat BITTER after-taste which is a surprising novelty and not exactly welcome. Nevertheless, I will continue to order this faithful old friend for its richness, fullness, generosity and finesse and assume it just had an off-day.

The medium french roast is the best French Roast i’ve had, anywhere; and i live between the UK and France. Simply stunning

This is a delicious coffee roasted to perfection for espresso. It leaves a lasting deep coffee taste with no bitterness. Please don’t taint it by adding unnecessary fat or other rubbish – it’s perfect on its own from the thick crema to the last drop. Temperamental to get a consistent grind like most oily beans but that adds to the pleasure of experimenting with different grind amounts and grades – I get excellent results with a hand grinder.

The best strong full flavoured espresso

I keep coming back to this coffee because of its traditional smooth and strong taste and crema. I use it for latte using a bean-to-cup espresso machine.

This is the best coffee I’ve ever tasted for the double espressos I drink all the time. Superb; not bitter but well-balanced with an enduring rich taste. My only criticism is that’s it’s rather temperamental to get the grind refinement and quantity consistently right for optimum extraction.

About the best coffee you can buy, in my view.

Although I generally prefer a medium roast, I like to try a dark roast from time to time, and this one seems to capture perfectly that “continental cafe” flavour.

Really nice coffee. Really nice dark roast, very smooth, great flavours

Would never have thought I would try a medium roast as always bought the dark roast. I would always and still do but a coffee I haven’t tried just to see what’s out there and I decided to try the French roast.
Wow this is one of the best coffees I have had. Full of flavour and not a bad strength either and has now become my go to coffee of choice.
Try it and you might just be surprised

Confusing labels. Said it was medium but it was very dark roast. Almost undrinkable. Disappointed.

Made in a Rancilio espresso machine. I didn’t like the taste, the crema was thin, and then after a few brews the oiliness of the beans proved too much for my Sage grinder, so I had to throw away most of the 250gm bag.

Favourite coffee so far – will definately be buying again

These coffee beans are very dark in colour and when ground produce beautiful strong coffee. I use an Italian coffee pot. Highly recommended
